[Music] Song in Support of IDF Goes Viral on YouTube
Just hours before Yom Hazikaron transitions into Yom Ha’atzmaut, Dov Hoschander’s song in support of the IDF has gone viral on YouTube, attracting more than 26,000 views since its recent release in April 2011.
The song, titled Hu Yivarech – A Song for the IDF Soldiers, available at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iXS4esYOJs4, is also featured on Dov’s debut album, DOV: The Gift.
Dov was inspired to write the song, in part, by a comment of his aunt whose son was then serving in the IDF. After Dov asked how she was coping, she responded, “Israeli mothers don’t sleep.” With Hu Yivarech, Dov sought to send a message of solidarity and prayer in honor of the soldiers of the IDF (and their families).
Among the lyrics, which include both Hebrew and English portions, is the following moving passage: “A boy looks out at his front yard – a passing jeep filled with guards. And he knows he’s not much younger than these men. Some day soon he will be called, to defend his country that he loves. And the world joins him in prayer again for them.”
