SHTAR Releases “Boss EP”
Earlier this month the long awaited release of Shtar’s highly anticipated follow-up project entitled “Boss EP” finally arrived Shtar’s debut album “Infinity” heralded international acclaim which lead to play on TV and radio play in USA, Israel and UK. And now Shtar has upped their game with a new classic that crosses their Root’s-esq style with hip hop, pop and deep techno that reverberate your being. Shtar went into the mix with double grammy award winning producer/engineer Adrian Bushby (Foo Fighters and Muse) to create singles “Overload” and “Gone Again” as well as teamed up with SXSW headliner/CMJ chart topper Nissim Black (formerly D.Black) for “Rabbit Hole. “Here Comes the Boss” is a groovy DnB track that breaks new ground and “Wonderland” is a zionistic hip hop that would make Kanye West proud. But you wouldn’t expect any less from a producer/songwriter (Brad Rubenstein) who was once signed to London Records by Pete Tong. Not bad for a couple of orthodox Jews who live in Israel.
In the ever advancing 21st century many artists are faced with the dilemma of cutting out the so called middle man AKA the record label. After much success with their debut album “Infinity”, released by 8th Note Records (Israel) and Shemspeed (USA), and despite numerous offers Shtar opted for more freedom and to take the route that many other successful artists have taken to launch their “Boss EP” independently. Shtar’s committed fan base coupled with their avant-garde musical development have given them the confidence to further trailblaze.
The evolution of Shtar is like watching a butterfly emerge from its cocoon. One rapper, two lead vocalists, guitar, drums, bass and electronic sampling woven together in a beautiful tapestry of sound. Live or on disk you can feel the influences of Massive Attack, The Roots, Dr. Dre, The Smiths, The Beatles etc. come together with a distinct Shtar flavor.
With a US tour in the works for spring 2013 and a UK tour for Early summer 2013, this year is mounting up to be the Year of Shtar. Shtar will be hitting TV and radio internationally in 2013 and they
are getting a head start with Israel’s premier hip hop radio station, Black Sheep 106FM, on November 22, 2012. Stay tuned for the follow up “Beauty Queen EP” slated to drop May 2013.
