Succah V’Lulov: Yochai Ben Avi feat. Refael Maman
Yochai Ben Avi, from Moshav Ha’Zorim in the lower Galil, is a graduate of “Beit Sefer Mizmor”, released an album about 6 months ago, called “Sha’ah Birchov Ha’galil”, which was very well-received amongst musicians and others in the musical world.
In honor of Succos, he is releasing a new single, called Succah V’Lulov, which is a new tune for the well-known poem, featuring singer Refael Maman.
His grandfather used to sing the poem, which was written about 300 years ago by Rav Moshe Adhan from the city of Miknes. The poem describes the simcha of the holiday.
This is one of the central pieces of poetry in the North African Jewish community, and it has many tunes. Although his grandfather isn’t alive anymore, he knows that he would have loved his new composition to this old favorite in their family.
