Yitzhar Shabi With A Musical Hesped For Rabbi Ovadia “Shema Kolo”
Yitzhar Shabi is a well known singer in the Jewish music world. Shabi a graduate of Rimon School of Meir Ariel z”l, accompanied the late guitarist for five years and was the lead singer and guitarist of the band “Kevutza Rika” in Jerusalem, which released a beautiful album back in Tav Shin Nun Hey. Before he turned 18, Yitzhar was in the process of chozer b’tshuva following that the band broke up.
Since then, Yitzhar continues to engage in music alongside Torah study. About four years ago he released his debut album “Lev Tahor“, and became one a great assets to Jewish music with hit songs like Lev Tahor, Dor Hamidbar, Zechut Hatanoim and more.
After taking a break from music, Sharabi took time to learn Torah and write a Sefer Torah. Yitzhar now returns with a moving poem written in honor of Rabbi Ovadia Yosef zt”l. When he started working on the song the Rav was till alive and the song was going to be devoted to his recovery, however with the tragic passing of the Rabbi, the song ended up slightly different and is dedicated to his memory and his neshama.
Yitzhar commented on the creation of the song:
“I have a special love for Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, I loved to hear his drashot and bask in his greatness in Torah. I was part of many prayers for the Rabbi’s refuah. This song expresses the gratitude of the Jewish Torah simply grow our generation. ”
