Michel Pardes Finds “Tranquility”
Like everyone else, Michel Pardes (aged 48) is searching for tranquility. He has even composed an amazing tune to the words from Psalms: “Peace be within your walls, tranquility in your palaces”. Pardes, in general a globetrotting businessman who from finds time in between to come to Israel, gathers top musicians around him in the studio and makes his own dreams come true.
This connection with Jewish and hassidic music is not new to him at all. Up till a few years ago he appeared as the lead singer of a modest band at weddings and simchas throughout Europe. When the piles of music that had
gathered in his drawer included a big enough collection of original songs, he wrapped them up well and brought them to Israel, to Avi Singolda’s studio, to turn them into an album. Pardes, himself a pianist, studied music seriously at a musical academy in Brussels. “Composing music is a spiritual exercise” he explains, “the part of me closest to Hashem. My soul needs to sing in order to exist and to colour my heart. The music that I write makes me feel good.”
As mentioned, the person responsible for the creative process and who directed the music production is the Israeli virtuoso guitarist Avi Singolda, who is also responsible for the arrangement. “Singolda is really a genius…”,
Pardes says of his colleague, “Hashem gave him a great gift.” Working with Singolda taught him what a professional is, “Avi has amazing energy, full of fun and endlessly talented. I hope that the good rhythm created between us will find a way into the hearts of the listeners.”
Avi Singolda, Karen Tannenbaum and other top names form part of the musical cast of the album. Pardes’ unusual voice causes the listener to think about the meaning of the words he sings and to feel a connection to the
psukim. Michel creates this Jewish music in a unique way that gives the tracks quality and richness. The song “Tranquility” now being distributed to the media is the first offering from the album “Dew” soon to be released.
