Over 800 Jews danced and rejoiced with lighting of the Menorah on the fifth night of Chanukah at a beautiful celebration held in Hong Kong.

It was organized by Shluchim Rabbi Mordechai and Goldie Avtzon in cooperation with local shluchim Rabbi Yitzchok and Chana Eisenbach of Kowloon, Rabbi Shalom and Dina Segal of Shantou, and youth activities directors Rabbi Itzik and Yehudis Nachshon.

This year’s larger-than-usual event was held as part of a series of activities celebrating 25 years since the establishment of Chabad in Hong Kong and China.

The event included a children’s program, and a number of children received awards for good deeds done in Hong Kong, adding light to the world.

Hong Kong’s Deputy Interior Minister Ms. Florence Hui as well as representatives from the Israeli consulate, were in attendance.

The Chairman of the Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce and Chairman of Zaka of China, Mr. Rafael Aharoni, was honored with the lighting of the Menorah.

Popular Israeli singer Gad Elbaz, currently on tour in the Far East, performed for the enthusiastic crowd.
