Akiva Tolchin – Lift Your Eyes

Akiva Tolchin is a rising young musician with a smooth soft-rock sound and content that is relevant both religiously and universally. Through incorporation of classical Jewish verses and ideas, Akiva’s music aims to introduce a new meaning to the current landscape of rock and consequently to imbue traditional themes with a new applicability.

Akiva hails from suburban New Jersey and trained musically in piano, guitar and voice. As a freshman in high school Akiva established and managed a rock band, composing the music for the group and gaining ground through concerts and contests across the tri-state area. Simultaneously Akiva worked on developing his own musical image and as a senior high school he emerged as a solo artist.

Influenced by a range of artists including The Beatles, Owl City, Blue Fringe, Moshav Band, John Mayer, and Death Cab For Cutie, Akiva comes into his own in his debut album Lift Your Eyes with an energized, believable sound. Stylistically, Lift Your Eyes is at times gentle and at times emphatic, with lyrical content ranging in themes of religious devotion, love, and personal empowerment.

Lift Your Eyes is religiously true and universally relevant, reaching out to a wide scope of listeners through its distinctive blend of freshness and sincerity.
