Amit Trabulski – “Bikashti” (I asked)
Nineteen year old Amit Trabulski from Petah Tikva is a young artist who in a few months intends to swap his guitar and harmonica for army fatigues for active service in the IDF. “I began playing guitar when I was about 13, I was drawn to the simple music from Bnei Akiva camps, to the breathtaking views in our tiny country, and its music… music and simplicity reached me…”, his friends agree that for him the two go together “like guitar and harmonica…”.
According to Amit, all it takes is a guitar and a harmonica to make “sameiach”, Amit claims that even being able to play just two chords on an untuned guitar missing a string or two – is enough to make it leibedik.
For the past three years the guitar and harmonica have been part of the chesed activities of Amit and his friends from Bnei Akiva. “Just before Shabbat we go along to the old age home near Bnei Akiva, I try to bring my guitar and harmonica, one of our crowd has the worst sense of rhythm I have ever heard and sings way off-key, but you look at him, in his shabbos clothes,
glowing, surrounded by old folks and wheel chairs, singing his heart out “and the main thing is not to be afraid..” with all the spirit and adrenalin of “just before shabat”, with the old people with him…” This is perhaps the reason behind the story of the album “Through Roots” (Derech Shorashim) – Lots of joy, soul, closeness to Hashem, humour and love of Eretz Yisrael.
Amit’s style is youthful and pure, the words he writes are his own or traditional verses, the music is exciting and rhythmic. Stay tuned for the complete album with amazing new versions of Jewish songs.
