Asher Scharf & Sons – Hashomer Shabbos in Stores Now
Asher Scharf has been writing songs since1968, and has cowritten several songs for Mordechai Ben David in the 70’s. It all started with Asher being a soloist with great chazzanim of the golden era of chazzanis. He sang with chazzan Shalom Katz, Moshe Gandoff and with the living legend chazzan David Werdyger. His big inspiration came from the previous Bobover Rebbe, Rebbe Shlomo ZT’L. In 1966, during Shushan Purim tish, young Asher and his friends put on a skit for the Rebbe and the Rebbes comment was ” He will be a big Ba’al Menagen “. This new album, Hashomer Shabbos is Asher’s fourth album. It features ten brand new songs all composed by Asher and sang by Asher and his four sons and friends. Two wonderful child soloistsare also featured in this album. One is up and coming child prodigy, Shaya Grossman and renowned child soloist from MBC, Moshe Blisko. Wow. I haven’t heard this dude’s name since High School! I remember when he used to have a radio show in Rockland County (or is it still in existence and I don’t even know?).
Ironically, his debut album which appeard sometime in the 90’s was titled “Kavei”.
