Although Eli Friedman is defined as a singer for the yeshiva bochurim by his singing style, compositions, and events in general, the inspiration for his new hit “Shma Yisrael” came from a unique source. The inspiration came from last Yom Kippur, as he was serving as a chazzan in Kibbutz Giva, for the Ayelet HaShachar Organization. As part of an organization like Ayelet HaShachar, Friedman was influenced by his work and desired to compose a song so as many people as possible would connect to the words of Shma Yisrael. Freedman’s new song is sure to be a hit that will keep people humming and enjoying the song with Shma Yisrael on their lips.
The musical production was done by Jeff Horvitch, who has been with Friedman since the beginning. The heavenly sounding voice that breaks through at the beginning of the song belongs to Gil Yisraelov.
