Lazer Lloyd Releases A New Album “Lost on the Highway”
Israeli blues, rock guitarist, singer/songwriter, Lazer Lloyd (Eliezer Lloyd P. Blumen), and exciting musical guests will perform Tues., August 13th at 7:30PM in Saratoga Springs Chabad Center. Lazer graduated from Skidmore’s Music Program in 1988 and returned to Connecticut to form his own rock and blues band called The Last Mavericks. The Last Mavericks first demo gained them a showcase with Atlantic Records. Toby Mofet from Atlantic A&R took Lazer to Manhattan to record with plans for him to go to Nashville and work with producer Gary Talent (the bass player from The E-Street Band). At this point Lazer was given a gig in New York with the legendary Rav Shlomo Carlebach. Shlomo invited Lazer to play with him in Israel, he did and quickly decided to move his life and his music to Israel.
Lazer played with psychedelic Jewish rock band Reva L’Sheva as lead guitarist and second singer for 7 years, he then formed the rock power trio Yood, touring and putting out solo albums along the way. He is now playing nightly with the Lazer Lloyd Blues Band across Israel from Jerusalem to Haifa and touring Russia, the USA, and beyond. His new CD, “Lost on the Highway” will be released by BluesLeaf Records based in the USA on August 13th.
Early reviews of the new CD have been stellar, Chris Spector (Midwest Records) writes, “Wild acoustic blues from Israel by a cat that’s either an old hippie or a rabbi, I’m not sure which. Absorbing the whole Koerner, Ray & Glover experience on his own and showing off what he’s learned, this is a white boy that’s not just in it for the grins. A hard working cat that knows what it is to travel the back 40, this solo live set really sneaks up on you and catches you off guard and by surprise. For the aging college kid that’s never outgrown the roadhouse at the edge of town, this is a wonderful bolt of the blues. It might fly under the radar but it’s really high flying stuff. Check it out.”
David Brinn of the Jerusalem Post writes, “When Lazer Lloyd enters the zone onstage, his eyes close tightly and he begins a peculiar dance – partly Tevye in the shtetl, partly psychedelic free form shuffle. He handles his guitar like it was an extension of his lanky but sturdy body, and the glorious noise that it emits sounds like wails and squeals emerging directly from his soul. He’s lost in the moment. He’s the best guitarist in Israel. ”
Ben Red of 88FM in Israel writes, “This is the best Rock N Roll Blues that I have seen in Israel. It’s right under our nose and we don’t know about it. Amazing, you have to see him live.”
