For over a decade, New York City’s Mike Boxer has spent more time consuming, creating and cultivating contemporary a cappella than anyone probably ever should. After directing Binghamton University’s Kaskeset and winning the ICCA finals with the Binghamton Crosbys in college, he forayed into professional a cappella as a founder and director of award-winning professional groups Six13 and One Guy Upstate, and founded Halfway Coherent Productions, which has produced dozens of acclaimed a cappella recordings, including several groundbreaking releases within the Jewish a cappella community. A champion of that genre, Mike produces the annual Jewish Performing Arts Festival and bi-annual Best of Jewish A Cappella CD series, and hosts the KolCast, the monthly podcast dedicated to Jewish a cappella. He is an arranger who has penned more than 200 a cappella arrangements performed by dozens of groups worldwide, a music director educator who leads workshops and consults with ensembles and productions of all kinds, and a performer who has worked with a long list of artists, ensembles and agencies both live and in the studio. He has worked as a public school music educator and as administrative director at Transcontinental Music Publications. Check out the new website @ acappella.mikeboxer.com.
