Rogers Park – The Maggid [OFFICIAL VIDEO]

Watch a classic Chassidic story told with a modern twist In “The Maggid” – the single off of Rogers Park’s debut album with the same title. With a driving backbeat and electrifying vocals, Yosef Peysin and Mordy Kurtz are storming the Jewish music scene with creativity and soul in this hilarious video.

Rabbi Hillel of Paritch wanted to spend Shabbos with his Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Lubavitch. A young chossid offered to make the trip on condition that Reb Hillel would not take too much time with his tefillos. Reb Hillel agreed and they immediately embarked on their journey.

Morning came and the young chossid went to collect Reb Hillel and saw him pouring out his heart before his Creator. Hours went by before Reb Hillel finished. Understandably, the young chossid was quite upset.

“I though you wanted to spend Shabbos with the Rebbe and you promised to rush your prayers. Now there is no way that we can get to Lubavitch on time!” exclaimed the young chossid.

“Let’s say you wanted to you wished to journey to the fair in Leipzig to purchase some rare merchandise only available there,” replied Reb Hillel. “If a merchant came on the way and offered you the same merchandise for the same price certainly you purchase it right there. Only a fool would insist to continue on to Leipzig!”

“The reason we go to the Rebbe is to find our path to attain love and fear of G-d in our prayer. So, if on my way to the Rebbe my praying goes well should I drop it and insist on running to Leipzig?”

Rogers Park is “America’s ONLY Chassidic Folk Band”.
