Shalom Aleichem – Waldman Brothers
Brothers Elazar and Moshe Waldman from Jerusalem are a very talented musical group. Every shabbos, they sit around the Shabbat table and raised their voices in song, and people came from afar to hear the wonderful songs. Even when they were in yeshiva or serving in the army, did not give up the habit from home. Every Friday for the Sabbath, were brothers got together to sing and to welcome the Sabbath with instruments, always joined by good friends.
Over the years, the Waldman brothers grew up, some got married and built their own house and has created the desire and need to share the experience of Jewish music lovers to sing their shirei shabbos together. “The idea is to make accessible to the public the songs we’re attached to and to share the original tunes that have grown out of it”, says Eliezer Waldman. After formulating the idea to the public as an album of poetry, the brothers did not compromised and recruited to work the best in the field, led by Yehuda Katz (Reva Leshva) who produced the project’s musical production.
Now two years later, and the wait is almost over, as the album will be release in the coming months. They bring with them news for the lovers and fans of Jewish music: a new refreshing album featuring Sabbath songs, some melodies familiar and loved ones wrapped up in new arrangements. Like a new pitcher full of old tunes and some of the family. The Waldman family has ancient roots in poetry and experience of performing music which they absorbed from their parents and grandparents. The added Atika Kadisha skillfully and harmoniously wonderful mix of contemporary Israel.
They released this first single from the album called “Shalom Aleichem” which opens the zemiros shabbos, which we welcome the angels when they accompany us our return from the shul. The song is performed by Rabbi Yitzchak Ginsburg, adapted by Yehuda Katz’s fascinating.
