Shtar is a fascinating group, not only due to the musical style that its creators have chosen, but also due to the group’s makeup. Five avreichim now living in Bet Shemesh (but formerly in the US & the UK) spend their mornings learning in kollel. However, this unique group also combines the art of music with torah. These two (opposing?) fields, exist and play and combine to create a unique style of music, both lively and sweeping.
Uri, Benjamin, Gavriel and the other members of the group aim to be mekarev other Jews through music with an innovative, contemporary sound with words from traditional sources. To this end they appear at concerts for youth at
yeshivot, colleges and campuses all over Israel and throughout the world. The anglo accent and energy of these bochurim in white shirts, with tzitzit glinting in the stage-lights creates a uniquely charming atmosphere that carries the youthful crowd with it.
“Shtar”‘s music never leaves the listener indifferent. It combines new sounds, a variety of beats and different musical styles. The group’s debut album will consist of pop, soul and rhythmic tracks. The complete album is expected to be released by Pesach .אי”ה
You are invited to enjoy Shtar’s first single – Kel Adon from shacharit of Shabbat. The tune is catchy and the beat will give you a taste of the rich musical experience of the ‘avreichim from Bet Shemesh’. The text was chosen in order to give an insight into the words, a deeper understanding of the davening.
“Kel Adon” – Music – Uri Mouri | Arranged – Binyamin Adom | solo – Dan Izak
