A Special Present For Pesach Which Coincides With Shabbat: “D’ror Yikra”!

Donash Ben Lavrat, one of Spain’s sages, has composed only a few poems, among them the special poem “D’ror Yikra“, which contains everything in its words: Torah, the land of Israel, Shabbat and redemption.

“He shall proclaim freedom to His sons and daughters, and will keep you like the apple of His eye”, these self-explanatory words, whose mention evokes longing and yearning for a day and a time in which there will be peace on earth, a time like the time of freedom and redemption which prevailed in Egypt for our ancestors, coming out of the darkness into light.

This year, Pesach coincides with the holy Shabbat, and this poem which has been spread throughout the entire Jewish diaspora was also set to music by the composer Meir Martin Widerker, and is being presented here in a lovely video-clip in honor of the holiday and Shabbat, masterly performed by cantor Yaakov Yitzchak Rosenfeld.

D’ror Yikra, among all other songs included in the record series “Shabbos Hamalka”, was arranged by the world renowned pianist Menachem Bristowski, and is accompanied by the International Yedidim Choir.

May you have a happy and kosher Pessach, Shabbat Shalom and enjoy watching!
