Yair Rosenberg Releases Debut Single From Upcoming Shabbat Album

Most people know Yair Rosenberg for his words. As a journalist whose work has appeared everywhere from Tablet Magazine to the New York Times and the Washington Post, he has interviewed White House officials, profiled Israeli political leaders, covered Jews in baseball, and even chronicled the translation of Harry Potter into Yiddish. But for the last five years, he has been working on something very different: an original album of Jewish music. Specifically, a collection of new melodies to everyone’s favorite Shabbat classics, which he both composes and sings.

This past week, after countless sessions of recording and re-recording in America and Israel, the first track—an irresistible Shalom Aleicheim—was released along with a crowdfunding campaign for the full album.
